The Life of Hazrat Abu Al-Aas (RA)

Complete Life of Hazrat "Abu Al-Aas" Radi Allahu Anhu (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ)

Abu Al-Aas

Hazrat Abu Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him)

Name and lineage:

There is a great difference in the name of Abu Al-Aas, some say Laqit, some say Mahsham and some say Hasham. Abu Al-Aas is a nickname. The lineage is as follows: Abu Al-Aas bin Rabi bin Abdul Uzzi bin Abdul Shams bin Abdul Manaf bin Qusai Qurayshi.

Acceptance of Islam:

After satisfying everyone, he recited the Kalima Shahadah and announced his Islam with a loud voice and said, "I would have become a Muslim in Mecca, but I have been holding back until now, just because I thought that you people would not have this suspicion that I had accepted Islam to consume your wealth. Now, when God has relieved me of your accounts and burdens, I have declared Islam."

After declaring Islam in Mecca, he returned to Medina and here he accepted Islam with a clear conscience. After his conversion to Islam, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not renew his marriage with Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with him) but maintained his previous marriage, but according to some narrations, he had renewed it.

Return to Mecca and the Ghazwat:

Hazrat Abu al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) had a business in Mecca, so he could not stay in Medina. Therefore, after converting to Islam, he returned to Mecca with the permission of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Due to the settlement of Mecca, he could not get the opportunity to participate in the Ghazwat, but he could participate in a group that was sent under the leadership of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) in 10 AH. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) made him the agent of Yemen on his return from Yemen.

Death:

Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) had passed away during the lifetime of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Abu al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) also did not live long after him and passed away in Dhul-Hijjah 13 AH.
