Hazrat Umar R.A and the Hungry Child

A story of a hungry kid in the time of Ameer ul Momineen Umar bin al Khattab r.a:

A delegation of carpenters arrived in Medina and there was commotion and noise everywhere. Hazrat Umar (RA) said to Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (RA) that night, "Let's keep watch that night to protect people from theft and other things." So they both kept watch all night and prayed as much as Allah had prescribed for them. Meanwhile, Hazrat Umar bin Al-Khattab (RA) heard the cry of a child and turned towards the sound and went and said to its mother, who was trying to quiet it down, "Fear Allah and take care of your child." Saying this, he returned to his place. Then after a while, the child's cry was heard again, so he went to his mother and explained it in the same way and returned. At the end of the night, he went to his mother and in the middle of the night, the child's cry was heard again. Hazrat Umar (RA) came to the child's mother and sternly said, "Woe to you!" It seems that you are a bad mother, why is this child of yours restless all night? The mother replied in a state of worry and hunger, "O servant of Allah! You have troubled me tonight, I am actually practicing weaning this child, but he refuses." Hazrat Umar (RA) The mother of the child said that it was because Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) prescribed a duty for a child who has been weaned. (On hearing this,) Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) started trembling with fear and asked him how old the child was. His mother said that he was so many months old. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that woe to you! You did not wean him early. Saying this, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) returned. When he led the Fajr prayer, the people felt the sound of wailing and wailing during his recitation. When the greetings of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were heard, he said: He turned around and said, "Woe to Umar! How many children of Muslims have died?" After that, he issued an order to provide alms for every child born in the state of Islam and sent this decree in writing to all the regions.
